Please Remember Lymphoma Canada in Your Will
This is one of the simplest ways to take advantage of planned giving and everyone can do it.
You can leave a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, or a percentage of your estate. Leaving a bequest in your will can significantly reduce the taxes your estate pays, since RRSP proceeds and capital gains are taxed on your final return.
Many people don’t realize that you can leave the remainder of your estate, after all other bequests have been implemented, to Lymphoma Canada. This type of “residuary bequest” is one way to contribute even if you don’t consider yourself wealthy. The Canadian Association of Gift Planners points out that if every adult in Canada made a will and included a bequest of even $100, charities would have millions more dollars to put to work every year.
Another option is to leave a “contingency bequest”. You leave a portion of your estate to Lymphoma Canada if your beneficiary doesn’t survive you. This ensures your estate supports Lymphoma Canada, instead of being distributed by the government.
