Honouring CEO’s mother-in-law
A heartfelt vote of thanks to Bend All Automotive in Ayr, Ontario and to the family and friends of the company CEO who, together, raised over $6,000 for Lymphoma Canada in honour of Dorina Stanghieri.
Dorina, mother-in-law to CEO Alfred Napolitano, died on her 76th birthday in September, only five months after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin T-cell lymphoma.
“She was a special lady and a big part of our lives,” says Alfred. Interestingly, he had met Dorina many years ago at a previous workplace before meeting his future spouse, so Alfred knew his mother-in-law longer than he has known his wife.
When Bend All Automotive held its annual summer barbecue for over 700 team members, Lymphoma Canada was named the charity of choice for the proceeds. The event raised awareness of lymphoma as well as funds for education about the disease. At the funeral, memorial contributions were made to the charity in Dorina’s honour.
“I recommend that companies consider supporting Lymphoma Canada,” says Alfred. “There’s so much attention for other cancers, but lymphoma is a difficult disease and Lymphoma Canada is a very worthy cause.”
